I have installed the new SATA all running well, 2 questions:

1. My SATA shows as a removable hard drive on the tool bar - is this right?

2. In my device manager I have an unknown device with the big yellow question mark, with no clues in the driver or properties - is there a away I can fing out what it is?

1: Normal for some motherboards.

Question

Why is there a “safely remove hardware” icon at right-hand side of taskbar after I installed nForce Chipset Driver in Windows2000/XP?.

Answer

Because Nvidia nForce4 SLI chipset can support SATA 2.0 which means that A8N-SLI Series also support Hot-Plug. If your SATA Hard disk do support Hot-Plug, you can Hot-Plug your hard disk like a usb storage device. But only port SATA1/2/3/4 will support this feature.

2: Install the motherboard drivers!

Question

After I have installed all the drivers from ASUS Motherboards support CD, I can still find an unknown device in Device Manager? How do I fix it?

Answer

Please update the driver of this unknown device and direct the path to support CD\Software\AiBooster\ACPI\Win2000\ to solve this problem.

RTFM

Thanks Don,

All becomes very clear now! All fixed. Your advise once more and as always is appreciated. I have read through my instructions booklet but cannot find the abbreviation RTFM!

Oh well, not to worry, Thanks
